Washington Cherry Blossom 100th Anniversary 5-DAY TOUR: April 11 to 15/12 Tokyo, Japan bestowed an incredible gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees on Washington, DC in 1912. Rooted strongly and surviving outside elements, the trees have withstood the test of time- and nearly a century later, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is preparing for an unprecedented and once-in-a-lifetime celebration. The epic 5-week spectacular will unify and electrify the city, the nation, and the world. Washington, DC and the region will be abuzz with excitement. There will be no doubt that spring has sprung. DAY 1: Breezewood, Pennsylvania. Sit back and enjoy the scenery today as our luxury coach winds its way through the rolling hills of Pennsylvania to Breezewood where we spend out first night away from home. Buffet meal included today. DAY 2: Washington, DC A short journey this morning will take us to Mount Vernon, the home and burial place of George and Martha Washington. Ample time will be allowed to explore the home and gardens and have lunch on your own. Most of the afternoon will be spent at the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest complex with 14 museums. The lovely Wytestone Suites just outside of the city will be home for the next two nights. DAY 3:Washington, DC. This morning a local guide will join our group for a 3-hour tour of Washington. This afternoon all will board the lovely yacht the "Spirit of Washington" for a relaxing Brunch Cruise on the Potomac River. From a breezy open deck or inside he heated cabin you will enjoy spectacular sights of the city of Washington from another perspective. We round this day with a mobile tour of the Kennedy graves at Arlington Cemetery. Upon returning to the hotel, you will have the rest of the evening free to relax or refresh in the indoor pool. An optional shopping excursion will be offered this evening to Potomac Mills Mall. DAY 4: Washington, DC & Lewisburg, Pennsylvania This morning our reserved seats wait for The National Cherry Blossom Parade. Following the parade, you will have free time to do as you please. Perhaps enjoy the Japanese Street Festival do some shopping, visit a museum or gallery of your choice or return to the Smithsonian as there is so much to see. We return to Breezewood for our last night away from home. DAY 5: Homeward bound. A relaxing, scenic journey will bring us home by early evening. Buffet meal included today.
