5-Day Tour: Sept 24-28/12
DAY1: Breezewood, Pennsylvania. Sit back and enjoy the scenery today as our luxury coach winds its way through the rolling hills of Pennsylvania to Breezewood, where we spend our first night away from home. Buffet meal included today.
DAY2: Washington, DC A short journey this morning will take us to Mount Vernon, the home and burial place of George and Martha Washington. Ample time will be allowed to explore the home and gardens and have lunch on your own. Most of the afternoon will be spent at the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest complex with 14 museums. The lovely Wytestone Suites just outside of the city will be home for the next two nights.
DAY3:Washington, DC This morning a local guide will join our group for a 3-hour tour of Washington. Next, we visit Arlington Cemetery and take a mobile tour of the Kennedy Graves. This afternoon you will have free time to shop and explore on your own. Upon returning to the hotel you can partake of a complimentary buffet meal. The remainder of the evening is free to relax, refresh in the indoor pool or join the coach for an optional shopping excursion to Potomac Mills Mall, the largest outlet center in the country.
DAY4: Washington, DC We start this day off with a visit to Washington's newest museum, the "Newseum" The Newseum showcases the history of news gathering and also features the largest exhibit of Berlin Wall sections, and a gallery devoted to the horrendous events of September 11th. This afternoon all will board the lovely yacht "The Spirit of Washington" for a relaxing Brunch Cruise on the Potomac River. From a breezy deck or inside heated cabin you will enjoy spectacular sights of the city of Washington from another perspective. Next, you will have free time to do as you please. Perhaps do some shopping, visit a museum or gallery of your choice or return to the Smithsonian as there is so much to see. We return to Breezewood for our last night away from home.
DAY 5: Homeward bound A scenic, relaxing journey will bring us home by early evening.
