Finger Lakes of New York State Theatre, Cruising & Wine Tasting 3-DAY TOUR: Sept 25th/12 DAY 1: Auburn, New York Our journey today will find us traveling through the Finger Lakes Region en route to Auburn, situated at the north end of Owasco Lake. Before checking into our hotel for a 2-night stay you will have free time to browse in the quaint stores in the lakeside village of Skaneateles. After checking into our hotel you will have ample time to relax and freshen up. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening before departing for the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse for a delightful musical show "Spelling Bee" A heartwarming and offbeat new musical comedy about growing up, fitting in and earning R-E-S-P-E-C-T. There are gold stars all around when six quirky, yet charming adolescent outsiders compete for the spelling championship of a lifetime. In the end, they learn the most important lessons of all: winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. DAY 2: Seneca Lake Cruise, Watkins Glen & Wine Tasting. Today we travel to Watkins Glen, situated at the south end of Seneca Lake, the largest of Western New York's glacial Finger Lakes. Here the uniformed crew of the "Columbia" will welcome us aboard for a scenic, relaxing lunch cruise on the 38 mile long Lake. The captain will provide interesting commentary of the area which is steeped in Indian history and folklore. Following the cruise you will have free time to browse in the village stores, or perhaps explore Watkins Glen State Park where a mighty gorge, carving its way two miles into a mountainside, has fashioned Grottos and Rock Caverns. Bridges and trails lead above, beneath and through the spray of waterfalls… the greatest pageant of waters in the east and truly a photographer's paradise! Next, our luxury motorcoach will make its way along the east side of Seneca Lake to one of the local wineries for a tour and wine tasting. This lovely winery is situated high on a hill with a beautiful view of Seneca Lake far below. After this busy day we return to the hotel. The remainder of the evening is free to relax, swim in the indoor pool or perhaps enjoy an evening in McMurphy's Irish Pub in our hotel. DAY 3: Letchworth State Park & homeward bound Following a hearty breakfast our journey today will take us to Letchworth State Park, known as the Grand Canyon of the east. Inside the park the seventeen-mile long Genesee River Gorge, with walls reaching 600 feet is noted for its three beautiful waterfalls. Upon arrival at the park you will have time for morning coffee and enjoy the spectacular view of Mt Morris Dam. A Park Ranger will join our group as we wind our way through the park with spectacular scenery and scenic overlook points. Several stops will be made for picture taking opportunities. Our tour will end at the lovely Glen Iris Inn overlooking the middle falls and once the home of William P. Letchworth. The Inn is now a gift shop and restaurant and this is where we have included a 3-course meal. There is more lovely scenery in store as we depart the park and make our way homeward.
